Overall, I like this bed. It's very hard to find old school innerspring mattresses that aren't full of foam. I also appreciate the "all natural-ness" of the product. It's very breathable and bouncy, both of which I like in a mattress. I do have a few gripes, though, and I determined that they were worth a loss of two stars when combined (I'd put the thing overall at a 2.5 out of 5). First, the bed isn't 10 inches thick as advertised. When measured from the fluffiest points on each side, it is 8.25 inches thick. Note that I let the thing sit and expand for about 2 weeks before sleeping on it (although it was pretty much fully expanded within 2 minutes of opening it). Second, the mattress has virtually no padding on it at all. The pictures make it look like it has significant amounts of cotton and wool on it, but you can very easily feel every single spring on it just by feeling with your hands - much more so when lying on it. You will absolutely need to budget for a thick mattress pad if you buy this mattress (I bought the wool one from joybed - it's kind of thin and I can still feel the springs a bit, but it does help). Third, and this is very subjective, but this bed really isn't firm at all. A lot of the other reviews complained that the LX was too firm for them, but for me, it's the most plush mattress I've ever experienced. I sleep on my stomach and sides (I currently weigh about 210) and prefer a quite firm mattress, and in every position it is very soft. I can stand next to the bed, push down on it with one hand, and nearly bottom it out. That said, I haven't had any back pain in the mornings yet, so thankfully the plushness doesn't seem to be a big problem for me. Fourth - and this didn't bother me too much, but did bother everyone else in the house - the thing stinks to high heaven for about a week or two after you open it. This is going to sound odd, but everyone unanimously agreed that it smells extremely strongly of play-dough. I have no idea why, but I've had 6 people all tell me that, and I agree with them - it really does smell like play-dough. It's been about a month now and I don't notice the smell anymore, and no one else still complains about it, so either it doesn't stink anymore or we've gotten used to it. Fifth, an innerspring mattress at this price point should absolutely be double-sided. Being only one sided will drastically reduce the lifespan of the mattress, and there's no reason not to make it double-sided. Lastly, considering all of the above, I feel the price point is a bit too high. I understand that natural materials are expensive, but this mattress is very on par with a standard material mattress that is half the price or less. I don't regret the purchase because there aren't really many/any other competitors out there (thus, the high price), but I do feel like I spent a bit too much on it. Again though, I don't regret the purchase, and I do like the mattress overall and intend to keep sleeping on it. Hopefully it lasts!
